Nelson - Discografia [1990 - 2000]

No início dos anos 90, os irmãos Nelson foram um fenômeno adolescente tal como os Jonas Brothers são hoje em dia. No entanto, ao contrário de Kevin, Joe e Nick, Matthew e Gunnar souberam fazer música de qualidade. O primeiro trabalho da dupla, "After The Rain" (1990), vendeu cerca de 2 milhões e meio de cópias graças ao sucesso do single "(Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection". Ao longo de sua carreira, os irmãos Nelson colecionariam recordes, entre eles, quatro top ten hits e quatro vídeos campeões no MTV Video Awards e lançariam outros álbuns. "Because They Can" foi o primeiro deles, em 1995. Em seguida viriam "Imaginator" (1996), "The Silence Is Broken" (1997), "Brother Harmony" (1998) e "Life" (1999). O último trabalho lançado pela dupla seria "Like Father, Like Sons" (2000), um disco composto por regravações de músicas de Rick Nelson, pai deles e pioneiro da música Country. Hoje em dia, os irmãos Nelson fazem parte do Scrap Metal, ao lado de Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger) e Mark Slaughter (Slaughter, Vinnie Vincent Invasion). É complicado resenhar um disco que você ouve pelo menos 5 vezes por semana mas, estou aqui para tentar... Lançado pela Geffen em 1990, "After The Rain" é o disco de estréia dos irmãos Nelson. O álbum, que vendeu cerca de 3 milhões de cópias, é o trabalho mais bem sucedido de Matthew e Gunnar - tudo graças aos seus quatro Top Ten Singles: "Love And Affection" (1º lugar na Billboard), "After The Rain", "More Than Ever" e "Only Time Will Tell". Recordes à parte, "After The Rain" é um álbum que consegue cativar o ouvinte à primeira audição - trata-se de um disco bastante inteligível, bem tocado e bem produzido. Os irmãos Nelson esbanjam talento e poesia e contam com toda genialidade do maestro Bobby Rock (Vinnie Vincent Invasion) na bateria. Além dos já citados Top Ten Singles, "After The Rain" contém outras pérolas, entre elas, as suingadas "I Can Hardly Wait" e "Fill You Up", as agitadas "Desire" e "Bits And Pieces" e, é claro, outras belíssimas baladas como "Everywhere I Go" e "Will You Love Me?". A versão disponível para download nessa nova postagem inclui 5 faixas-bônus: "Too Many Dreams" (que saiu em um EP separado no Japão), "Keep One Heart" (mais uma belíssima balada), "Love And Affection" acústica e duas versões ao vivo de "More Than Ever". Nelson - Because They Can [1995]

Enquanto muitos consideram "Because They Can" uma espécie de continuação de "After The Rain", eu o considero um disco completamente diferente de seu antecessor. Musicalmente falando, a competência dos irmãos Matthew e Gunnar é inquestionável, no entanto, no que diz respeito a cativar, "Because They Can" come poeira para "After The Rain". Não que o disco seja ruim, pelo contrário, é bom até mas não empolga. Falta AQUELA música, AQUELA balada, AQUELE refrão-chiclete. Fugindo do campo da comparação, "Because They Can" contém canções interessantes como "Love Me Today", "The Great Escape" e a instrumental "Remi", as melhores do disco. Por mais que "Because They Can" não seja tão viciante como "After The Rain", merece um espaço em sua coleção.
